Longarm Quilting Information
I specialize in digital edge-to-edge quilting, which means the pantograph quilting design will repeat in a pattern across your quilt top and not area specific. You will find many different pantographs offered of varied designs and effects. Does your quilt need soft flowing designs that create movement? Will geometric patterns best suit your quilt? Or might your quilt call for elegance or perhaps a sense of fun? My goal for every quilt I longarm is for them to be a unique reflection of the owner's tastes and preferences.
The current rate for longarm quilting services is 2.25 cents per square inch. There is no additional cost for thread/bobbins. To determine the cost of longarm quilting for a quilt that measures 60"x60", you would calculate: 60 x 60 x $0.0225 = $81
I am happy to feature a discounted pantograph each month available at a significantly reduced cost of 1.25 cents per square inch. The discount only applies to the specified pantograph featured and if received within the designated time frame. Hopefully this price point helps get your quilt tops out of storage and finished up so they can get the love and use they so deserve!
There is a $40 minimum quilting charge for all quilting services. This is exclusive of any additional costs to include batting, rush fee, binding services, return shipping, etc. Should you have a smaller project and want to try to limit cost, consider combining multiple projects. Feel free to reach out to me about how best to do so for your projects.
I've got a quilt top I would like quilted. How does this work?
Prepare the quilt top.
Press your quilt top to avoid wrinkles and bulky seams during quilting. A smooth quilt top helps ensure you get the best quilting results.
Trim as many stray or loose threads the best you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, don't skip this important step.
If your quilt top is directional, you can also mark its top with a piece of tape. That way everything will line up as you had hoped.
Prepare the backing.
Your backing should be 4" longer than your quilt top on all sides. It can be bigger, but not smaller. For example, if your quilt top measures 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 68" x 88".
Press your backing so it is smooth and ready for me to load onto the machine. If you have a seam in your backing, use a generous 1/2" seam allowance, backstitch at the ends to secure it, and press the seam open to reduce bulk.
It is helpful to leave the selvage on the edges of your backing. This will help me load the backing with a straight edge.
I am happy to piece your backing for an additional fee of $10/seam. Select this option on your quilting request form and be sure to include enough fabric.
If your backing is directional, you can also mark its top with a piece of tape. That way everything will line up as you had hoped.

Decide if you are going to provide your own batting or purchase from the options I have available. More information about our batting selection can be found in the section below.

It helps to have the package clearly labeled with your name and other information.

When I'm done quilting, I will send you an invoice. Once the invoice is paid, I'll prepare your quilt to be returned to you. This was fun! Let's do it again soon!
Batting
As a convenience to my clients, I offer Quilters Dream batting for sale. Purchasing your batting through me is fast and easy, competitively priced, and will save on your shipping costs when you send your quilts to me. You are always welcome to send along your own batting with your quilt top and backing if you prefer.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen-size (93") rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch. I also have some king-size (120" x 122") packages of batting available in house.
If there is another type of Quilters Dream batting you would like me to order such as luxurious wool or ultra-puffy polyester, we can discuss!
-
Quilters Dream Bamboo
A luxurious blend of bamboo, silk, Tencel, and cotton. Mid-loft. White.
Made from renewable resources, this batting has a lovely drape and is incredibly soft. Bamboo batting also washes well and gives you minimal shrinkage. Like cotton, bamboo batting is very breathable while still providing warmth. It is a delight!
-
Quilters Dream Cotton Select
100% cotton. Mid-loft. White.
This is my choice for that vintage keepsake look. After the quilt is done and washed, it gives your quilt a soft crinkly look as the fibers shrink. Over time your quilt will only get softer. Cotton also has great versatility in holding in heat while maintaining breathability. Perfect for our southern Georgia climate!
-
Quilters Dream 80/20 Blend
80% Cotton 20% Polyester blend. Mid-loft. White.
The polyester blended into the cotton gives this batting great stability and makes it more resistant to creases and wrinkles. It will shrink a small amount, so you'll have some crinkle here also. This is a great option for a quilt that needs to stand up to frequent use and is what I typically use for most of my quilts.
How much do you charge for quilting?
Longarm Quilting Service
The cost of longarm quilting is based on a set price per square inch. Base pricing is $0.0225 per square inch, but I also offer a discounted monthly design which costs less.
Multiply the length and width of your quilt (in inches) by the price per square inch to determine the cost of quilting. For a quilt that measures 60" x 60" and a standard pantograph with a charge of $0.0225 per square inch, you would perform the following calculation: 60x60x0.0225=$81
Please note there is a minimum quilting charge of $40 for each quilt you send. This means that the price to quilt a smaller quilt or table runner will be rounded up to the $40 minimum. This is due to the amount of time required to load each individual quilt top regardless of size.
You will receive a Paypal invoice via email when quilting is completed. You may pay with a credit card, Paypal, or Venmo. Local customers are also welcome to remit payment via cash or check.
Batting
Batting is a separate charge and is not included in the square inch price.
You may provide your own batting for your quilt or purchase from the options I have available, which are listed above. If you purchase from me, this will be included on the final invoice to be paid when quilting is completed.
If you live in the state of Georgia, I am obligated to collect a 7% sales tax on all physical goods I sell, which includes batting and fabric. This sales tax will be included on your invoice.
Shipping
I live in Savannah, Georgia and am happy to quilt for both local and mail-in customers.
Local drop-off and pick-up is free. We can arrange for either my home studio location or Savannah Fabric Company's downtown store. You will indicate this option when you complete the Longarm Quilting Request Form.
Shipping to and from our home studio is a separate charge and not included in the square inch price.
I will send your quilt back to you via USPS Priority Mail using the most economical option. This shipping cost typically ranges between $12-$20 depending on the size of the quilt and your location. This shipping cost will be included in your final invoice. USPS Priority Mail packages include $100 of insurance and tracking information. Should you wish to add additional insurance, you can indicate that on the Longarm Quilting Request Form. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while in transit, but I don't require you do so.
Other Services
Additional costs are associated with other optional services offered:
- Piecing backing fabric
- Rush fee for expedited quilting
- Binding services
More information about current pricing for these services is included on the Longarm Quilting Request Form. If you select any of these services, they will be separate charges included on the final invoice as well.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of longarm machine do you use? I have a Gammill Statler Ascend.
What is the largest quilt top you can accept? The maximum width is 120 inches.
Do you offer custom, free-motion quilting? No, not at this time.
Can you piece my quilt back? Yes, I offer this service at the rate of $10/seam.
Does it matter which direction the seam runs in the pieced backing? It is preferred for the seam to run horizontal across the width of your backing - parallel to the top and bottom. This way when the backing is loaded onto the longarm, the seam isn't stressed during the entire quilting process.
Is it okay if my quilt top has embellishments such as buttons, pins, or brads? No, please remove any embellishments from the quilt top prior to sending. If you are planning to add embellishments, do so after the quilting is complete.
I am new to quilting and worry my top is not special or good enough to send to a quilter. Welcome to the quilting community! Your quilt is unique and special because you made it. There is no room for judgment here - let's work together to created a finished quilt that brings you joy.
